This was the last week of advice before the Christmas holidays so, it was vital that I got everything set in stone before continuing on with my work. For the weight lift all of the feedback was positive with only a few things being mention with them being mostly polishing like keeping the charter ion the middle of the screen and not sliding over to the right. This was considered a bit distracting to the viewer which I agree with and now that I’ve made that change you can more easily see the shakes the character does while holding the sword above his head. This does give the while animation more time to focused on the main point of the animation and leads into the other bit of feedback I got today Which involved just leaving a little bit of time after an action to let the main pot of it to skin in with the viewer. like something along the likes of slowing slow out. This was recommended to me due to some of this animation just having too much movement overall. This was more apparent within the lip sync due to when I turned everything to besizer there was just constant movement within the character, and it even went so far as to muddy the view of the lip sync which made it hard to see what she was saying. To help with this I studied some videos of lip syncs and scenes in general o see what my tutors meant by this. I looked at channels like Anim School and Jesse Baumgarter to see how they did it. I found they use a mixture of really slow movements in area which look like they still but really theory doing one action slowly to give of the illusion of being still as well as,, sometimes having the main busy stay still and having the arms take the lead which is a good comperes when the situation calls for it. though all of these point are true the main point is to have bit of a lull in-between big actions of which I’m going to implemnt into my work going forward.
For the weight lift it was just a matter of lining up the body to where i wanted it to be like in the middle of the screen of which the viewer could see it better. This was tricky as some actions were being thrown off by an inch where created this jittering effect within the piece, but it really was just a matter of going to each frame and matching them up which, was tedious though it did work in the end. After I had fixed a thing with the weight of the sword, I stared to clean up the lines as the tutors where happy enough with how the animation was looking and i stated working on my lip sync until the power went out a put, me back to square one of polishing so, this may take longer than I expected.
For the lip sync to slow some of the actions down I focused on the hips and some of unscary key frames and used the shift e command to stick things into place. I do think that this does improve things, but it does need more time and effort for these changes to actually work as with the creature creation hand in I’ve had to focus on that so, these changes haven’t been fully incorporated. Overall, I’m pleased with all the feedback and the revelation that my weightlift is submission ready was really good to hear and all I need to do to make it a portfolio piece is to clean it up is even better to hear. For the lip scync i am a bit wary of how much time I would have to really work on it with some major actions within the animation need some major tweaks like the hand movement at the end and the overall shapes of the mouth with some phonemes not actually liking up as much as they could. Despite all of this I’m happy with where everything is at the moment.
