My Reflection

 

Throughout this project, I felt that I have improved my understanding of this medium and that I understand Typology more than in the last assignment. where I faltered in this project is the typology and understanding it. Even though I think I have improved there is still a tone I do not know, an example of this would be making the armor and extra parts of the model. It was the helmet that gave me the most problems. It was how the inside flowed and when they overlapped and crossed each other which did take some amount of time to fix to the best of my ability. The other thing I had trouble with was the UVs and loops while fixing the loops a part on the head had to be removed which messed up the UV map so I had to go back and re do it I tried to layer up some similar island but that proved troublesome in the texturing stage. I now know that there better to have their own space on the map and this resulted in better looking overall. The other thing which I would like to improve is the shape of the feet there, which is a bit too big for the character who, taking away from the big brooding villain I think if they were smaller, would sell the idea of strength. think that this would really sell the original idea of what I wanted to go for. for the things I do think for the research I did well due to it informing my creative decision within my model and overall brought it closer to Genny’s work.  I focused this research on the face of the model looking at how he did these big characters as well as the few times he drew jack in armor which helped inform the shapes I would use for it. The other thing I liked about the piece are the textures I wanted to use the concept of samurai Jack being a from the past flung into the future and reversed with the futuristic machine being sent to the past. This led me to use more rust and moss to sell this idea, and it worked out well. I also used multiresolution to add scratches and dents for it to fill, which improves the model. Overall, there is still a lot to learn, and I do need to take my time with the construction stage. I think this would help me understand what I learning a lot more and I do think by trying to do thinks twice in some cases I would really take it in. though I’m proud of what I have made I’m aware of how much more I have to learn and maybe I can be a bit too hard on myself in places, it’s just something I need to improve upon.
