Line and colour

For today’s class we were given the task of colouring the sack test animation to practice our clean up skills and show one mentioned of out lining our characters with a quick and easy method. This is quite a common thing to do within animation but, if you were to go back to the Walt Disney days you would have to do it with paint on cell sheets which did not leave much room for error in those days. now it much easier due the creation vectors a system that uses nodes to create straight lines but, can create really clean curves which is perfect for our project. the thing i needed to keep in mind while i was doing this task was the hue and pattern due to the sack being a soiled colour. I did not need to worry about that for now. i wanted to choose some unique colours for the bag so I went with red and purple just to give it something more than just a brown bag.

History of vectors

Vector art is a form of creating art with little nodes which when places would create a nice solids clean line between them. It is a highly effective way of getting clean line art for our animation but, it is very rear to find software with this feature due to the best and most common one being adobe illustrator. It first came about during the 60s and was on of the original components of that generation of computer. it did not really get noticed until it was used in the hit 70s arcade game known as astordes where you would use them to destory the said asteroids. it aslo marked a stage where they did very rodamentery animation with them which was very interesting.  though luckly Krita has a version we can apply to our animation which, will help our clean and polish stage.

Sack Test

Overall, it turned out ok. I think the lines could have been a bit cleaner in places. This can be fixed by erasing certain lines but that did prove risky in the end and gave me the result I ended up with. I also think the colours I chose do not work as well and are a bit too vivid for my liking. I do think that I need to improve my special awareness due to a mistake I made with the sack, I noticed that when the sack widens up to jump it crosses the line which is meant to be the floor and should not be crossed. This breaks the illusion of disbelief, and we can have that a way to fix this is to be more aware of the space I am working in and extend the curve outwards instead of downwards.  I think by using another more saturated it would help balance the piece out a bit. though it does not impact the point of the task that much. I like the thing I was able to adapt to the vectors due to having some experience with adobe illustrator another vector software. Overall, I do think there is room for improvement but, i think i have a good grasp of the process.
