Blocking
For this weeks class we learned about blocking, this is a very standard part of the 3D process and is a great skill to learn before making any character. it really comes down to adding base low polyol shapes to create the design with no detail to workout the overall feel and shape of the character. our class workshop was to block out the character we made last week for homework, to do this i needed to setal on one design where i got a lot of good feedback on my second design as well as my first idea, everything came down to which, one i had the most fun making which was the samurai jack inspired robot. After having a chat with the tutor i add abit more complexity to the model by removing the skirt and giving the molded legs and added some more complex shapes to the overall design.

for the development i did a turn around just to see how it would look from multiple angles as well i also had a look at some details i could add during the proper sculpting stage. this included some lines to suggest lines armor and and some rivets.
to start i made the body with spheres for the joint and some extrude shapes for the head along with some sculpted the hips and torso.

then i added the armor and the helmet while keeping in mind to keep to a minimum so if there is a mistake it can be fixed before its too late and i can insure that it would result in a clean model.

overall im pleased with how it turned out with all of the shapes being at the size and scale for thew character. though i would go back and fix a few gaps in the model but, that’s what the blocking stage is for. i would also go back and add some amour to the forms and thighs of the model to really sell the idea of a walking tank. i also really like how the helmet came out though i would change the gap where you can see the inside of the head. i did go back and fix some elements to take it back to a more blocky state so i can find any more mistakes within the model. i had to remove the curved pauldrons. i think i can fix it by either increasing the size of the face or to fill it or moving the side ear wings things inward by just a bit.
