For week one our assignment was to create and animate a snowman. During the demonstration, I initially felt a bit lost as my inexperience with 3D caused the pace of the demonstration to be a bit hard to follow along to. For this reason I decided to just watch the demonstration and attempt the assignment after with help from the Blackboard videos.
After modelling, we had to animate the snowman. This was initially difficult as we had to learn about key framing in Blender and it was a bit different to my previous experiences with key framing. I also found it tricky to move all the parts of the snowman correctly into place for the in-between frames within the animation. During the animating process, I looked into object constraints and used the ‘child of’ constraint to animate the hat. This was difficult as I had to go in and manually fix the frames afterwards. This is because my hat wasn’t always looking connected its ‘parent’ in the constraint. I believe this is because of a mistake I made earlier in the modelling process with scaling.
after completing the animation, I was feeling a bit more confident with blender and decided to add the Christmas tree to just play around a bit. I searched around to find the emission properties which I found really fun and interesting to use.
