This week, I had my interview session which went surprisingly well- despite being quite nervous about it initially. I was overall really happy about how it turned out and it has given me a better idea of how interviews are structured in a real-life setting. My performance itself was decent and I feel as though I was well-spoken and coordinated with my answers, especially the ones relevant to the job – for example, there was a question about a difficulty I’ve had and solved in the animation industry. I simply answered this using the example I planned last week, referencing the recent issue I have had with my animation assignment, and how I used real-life reference footage to help with the poses I was struggling with. This was one of the answers I got pretty good feedback on and was further advised that this is what an employer likes to hear, and this is something I will keep in mind for future interviews. Ultimately, if I were to sit down and redo this interview, one thing I’d without doubt change, would be how I kept apologising for getting anxious- which is a big no-no to do in a real-life setting. Despite my nervousness, I was quite confident with my ability to answer questions, but because I struggle with my speech, this can hinder me to make coherent sentences at times. This is something that I will try to work on in future, but as it is an issue that can’t be helped, I will forgive myself for that one and move on. In summary, I am really happy I got this opportunity to practice with my tutors as it has given me experience and more knowledge on what to expect with these types of interviews and how I should prepare for them- my main goal now is to practice this until perfection!

Showreel Outcome

Here is the final version of my portfolio and I really like how this has turned out. The music, timing and artwork itself all work effectively together and honestly, I feel as though it is really immersive. Throughout the editing, I did my best to time the clip appearances to the beat of the song, and this flowed through very nicely and it makes a huge difference to how the work is presented. Moreover, I will probably add more to this in future as a lot of this work is from the first year of my course, in which I have greatly improved since. This would make it a lot easier for future applications as I now have a template sorted and would just be required to swap and change clips around to fit the role. In summary, I am very satisfied with my progress and this final outcome as I feel I was able to achieve the kind of vibe that I initially was aiming for.
