Recently, I decided to invest in some new brushes! These were made by animator, Aaron Blaise. Below I have tested these out on a blank canvas, including labels of the brush names. I intend to experiment further with these brush presets, perhaps I can use some of the textures for detailed background work? Or maybe fur textures? I may start with some of the pastel brushes as these have a good variation in texture and form. Ultimately, I plan to further look into more of Blaise’s lessons especially his animation and animal series’ as this could help me improve both of these areas.
Aaron Blaise course: How to Draw Wolves, Coyotes & Foxes (Lesson one & two)
Here, I decided to invest in Aaron Blaise’s, ‘How to Draw Wolves, Coyotes & Foxes’ series. As I had recently looked into how canines walk and run in comparison to humans, I felt that this would be beneficial to look into. The lessons themselves are quite fun and explained using simple terminology which makes it easy for beginners to understand. They focus more on the drawing and execution rather than going into depth about what each bone and muscle structure are called. To me, as someone who is new to this, it is a relief. The first two lessons I have started here mostly focus on bone structure and muscle mass. It shows how both of these portray the build of a wolf. Below, I have included appropriate screenshots along with my attempts to follow along with the lesson. In conclusion, this series has proven to be very informative and aiding towards my understanding of canine anatomy. I will definitely be continuing this course in my own time in order to better my skills in drawing canines more efficiently.
