Here are two short videos that I have researched into on Youtube. They describe and explain in detail about the deep-sea environment and the creatures that live there. It talks about bioluminescence and how it is used to hunt for prey, camouflage and to attract mates. Overall, the two of them are really helpful in the easy explanation and introduction to this topic. This means that the narrative hasn’t used complicated wording, but instead is simple with sentence structure and definitions- this made it a lot easier for me to understand. To my surprise, there’s actually quite a number of sea creatures that use this natural source of light in order to survive. Apparently, this is due to evolution because there is no light, therefore no photosynthesis. This means that overtime, these animals have adapted to their surroundings.  Even on land, there are various species that are bioluminescent such as the railroad worm and certain bugs. This was something I was unaware of, and now that I have learnt more information on this topic, I will put it to use towards world and character building. I plan to gather additional written references (e.g. books, onlines articles, magazines), photography and documentaries for this theme. In theory, this will help me to understand how this world functions.
