Here are three different shows that I have referenced. These are as follows: The Owl House, Hercules, and Gravity Falls. The reason I have chosen these three is due to their individual unique sense of colour choices. Hercules, in particular, I am in love with due to the style of application. Below, there is an example of what I am referencing to. The main elements are coloured simplistically whilst the background gives off a Claude Monet, impressionistic look and this makes it appear very balanced. Compared to the other two screenshots, which seem to retain the same style throughout. The Hercules one definitely uses colours to its advantage as it is evident in this scene that the mood is that of disappointment. This explains the colours being washed out and dull. I specifically love how the first screenshot from The Owl House conveys the scene through the dark hues, indicating that it is night time. However, despite this, you can still make out what is going on in the picture and the mood is well conveyed through this. Lastly, the Gravity Falls one is the most effective one in my opinion. The reason being is how it consists mostly of bright red hues for the main elements. Moreover, this connotes danger and is really threatening. By looking at this image, it is obvious that there is evil intent, that something disastrous is about to happen, and this is extremely powerful. From what I have briefly examined from these images, I will begin to think more about my use of colour, and how it can be manipulated to aid in conveying a story.
