This week, we had to do another 6 thumbnail studies. However, these were to be focused more on tonal value. As you can see below, I have included my thumbnails which are built up of some of the scenes I imagine to appear in our world. Furthermore, I decided that I wanted to try and go for a natural, fantasy kind of look with my thumbnail ideas. I feel like this execution turned out generally well and perhaps some of these sketches have potential in becoming final locations? The sketches themselves were done reasonably quick as I wanted to be as loose as possible in order to help ideas to flow easier. Out of the six of these thumbnails, I would probably say that number one and six are my favourites. This is due to how they are more suited to my style of work- they are simple yet still effective and easy to interpret. The rest of them are a lot more abstract with their approaches which I feel makes it a lot more difficult for the viewer to understand what might be happening. In future, when creating background artwork, I will keep these points in mind in order to improve with my artwork as a whole.
