Introduction into 3D modelling
I was actually absent from this lecture and workshop because I was sick, so I wasn’t able to do the in-class workshop, which was to make and apply colour to a skateboard.
Our homework was to model a tie-interceptor from Star Wars. I modelled the interceptor by following along with my lecturer’s tutorials and occasionally looking up some shortcuts I had forgotten or wanted to know. I also learned about how to use the x-ray mode in Blender, which was very helpful, especially when deleting the inside faces from the inner rim of the window rim on the interceptor. I also learned how to use the mirroring modifier, which cut down on the amount of work I had to do with the wings, which was really useful, and I plan to use it going forward.
I also used an image to try to effectively match my colouring. This is the image I used to try to make my materials more accurate. I also had to do more research on how to add the starry background to the tie fighter because it confused me a little bit, but I figured it out, and I’m happy with the end result. Below is my final render of the interceptor.
