Although I was also absent this week, I have remained on track with everything.

So this week focused on ‘Blocking characters’ which, to my understanding, is the process of building a character out of simple meshes to get their general body shape while using the sculpting tools to define the finer body shapes, and from this you can keep defining and refining until you get a character model you’re satisfied with. You should keep your model symmetrical until the end, where you can add more asymmetrical details to add character.

So for this week’s assignment, we were instructed to keep working on character designs, trying to finalise them, and do a turnaround to possibly begin blocking out our characters. Now, because I wasn’t in this week, I wasn’t able to go get feedback on my designs, so I bulled on ahead with my Durham. I decided to do a few more designs to get a better idea of what I wanted his body type to be.

I also did a turnaround based on the body shape I liked most, which is the second one inserted here. I like the more pear-shaped body; I feel like it could be very fun to sculpt and very similar to many of the body types Gennedy uses, as his body types in Hotel Transilvania are very round.

While I have started blocking out my character, I’m going to halt my work on it for now until I get feedback from Mike tomorrow on my designs because I don’t want to have done a model and have to start over, so I’m going to get my feedback and come back and refine my designs, then change the model as needed.
