Overall, I’ve left this assignment feeling okay and I know where I need to improve.
My biggest issue by far in both animations is form. My consistency in this area is what I feel is hindering me the most from becoming a better animator and it’s something I really need to improve on and I want to take steps to do that, although I do sometimes find it difficult to do, especially if I’m having a character squash and stretch or if I’m doing a smear frame from one scene to the next. I find it hard to return to the characters original proportions. For example, this is really evident in my lip sync because the character’s head is actively getting smaller as the animation goes on. It was slightly intentional because I wanted to go from them leaning on the table at the start and then slinking back into their chair but I don’t think I really nailed that.
I do, however, see myself improving even if it’s slowly and I do plan on polishing these pieces up and putting them in my showreel because they are the most complete animations I have ever done but I’m hoping to improve much more, especially on my form and timing, as I feel they are the areas I do lack most in but I know I can definitely improve because I have already seen improvement from myself.
