I was absolutely dreading Unreal Engine; I thought it would be the most difficult thing I’ve done so far because in class I found it really difficult to follow along with the tasks, but I gave it another go for the first time in a while, and it was not as difficult as I had made it out to be, and I actually found myself enjoying it.

I was using this as a reference image while I put together my scene. I want to make an environment with spikes, but in the far future, when nature has started to reclaim the area, like parts of Chernobyl.

I downloaded a few items off of the Quixel bridge, such as bones, cacti, and dead shrubs, and I downloaded rusty stakes but scaled them up to be my big metal spikes in the ground and ended up with this.

After adding the spikes and bones and fiddling about with the skylight because I wanted a red sky and I wanted to add dark casting shadows.

I was struggling heavily with Unreal coming up to the deadline, mainly exporting it onto the school computer. I encountered multiple issues, mainly that the PC I was trying to open Unreal onto was very slow, and it was just really haltering my progress. Eventually I got it onto a different PC and was able to tinker about it more effectively with the lighting.

I wanted to have a slightly darker sky, and achieving that was a bit more difficult than I thought it would be, but I was able to load in my character and pose him effectively.
