For this task we were meant to try describing a book/album in around 140 characters or less as well as sketch something to summarise it. Not sure if I did the greatest job at this but here’s what I did anyway.
Description:
A Japanese horror manga where a stench of death is carried by rotting fish with mechanical legs that have crawled their way on to land from the ocean. These legs are like parasites that feed on whatever they attach themselves and now they’re on land, humans are next.
4 word description: Captivating, Thrilling, Grotesque, Horrifying
Sketch:
So the first sketch I did, I went a bit over board with detail considering it was meant to be quick and simple. I drew one of the fish parasitic leg things since they’re the main event of the books.
I decided then to try again and take a much simpler approach.
I think this exercise was helpful in getting me to think about writing and describing things in a more concise way. Which is great for someone like me who tends to ramble. Oh yeah, the book was Gyo by Junji Ito by the way. If you like manga and/or horror it’s a great read.
