For this project we had to first work in groups to collect 100 reference on a Pinterest board relating to point, line or plain under a specific topic. My group decided on line with buildings as our focus. Then we had to individually pick our 9 favourite images that make up a narrative. I chose to focus on the geometric lines that often feature in modern architecture, not just commercial buildings but now in modern homes as well.
Here is a like to the group Pinterest board: https://www.pinterest.ie/sarahcollinson5/group-d
I drew line work over each image I chose in illustrator to emphasise all the geometric lines I see. These line work recreations are what I’ll be posting on instagram.
The first image is of the Central Bank of Ireland in Dublin, an example of Brutalist architecture and the last few images are of modern homes. The 9 images represent a transition from function to style choice in the use of geometric lines in architecture.
