Job Roles in Animation – Task 2

Aimeé Kirkham Priester

Lead 3D Animator at TAUNT Studios, Belfast.

Aimeé KP is an animator who graduated from Ulster University with a degree in Animation in 2018. Between 2016 and 2017, Aimeé worked with Enter Yes, an award-winning studio in Belfast that specialises in VR, VFX and animation as a 3D Generalist. In this role, she created concepts and textures, sculpted models, rigged 2D characters and animated. Finishing her degree in 2018, KP became a lead animator at TAUNT Studios. Aimeé directed ‘Tot’ alongside Tom Getty and Fiona McLaughlin, about a girl who carries grief with her as she searches for closer after the death of her father. KP also created ‘Green Beans’, a 3D animated series developed by TAUNT for pre-school aged children, to educate them about the wonders of the world.

Aimeé’s career journey is inspiring. I would like to follow a career path based in Belfast, and I have learned that I need to create a portfolio of work that demonstrates the best of my abilities if I want to find opportunities in the animation industry.

Week 2 – Job Role Seminar and CV Design – Homework

This showreel has a simple title card design that is shown at the beginning of the video and at the end. The largest font is personalised and highlights the artist’s name first, below names their area of expertise in a clear font alongside their contact information. Each clip transitions quickly which keeps the audience’s attention.

Week 3 – Showreels

30 Second Edit

To highlight a general set of skills in this showreel, I used a mix of clips and ordered them in a way which I thought worked best with the sound. The first clip starts off blank and has wings opening so I thought that would work well at the start, plus it’s cool and attention grabbing. I wanted the pea to splash the water when the beat drops. I really enjoyed lining up the different clips with the sound to make this showreel, however I could have ended it less abruptly by editing it better so that it fades out more slowly.
