Throughout this assignment, I have enjoyed seeing our team grow together – I think the great relationships we have built with each other enabled us to communicate effectively so that every opportunity we came across when learning new skills and software were explored to the fullest. Looking at my portfolio, I can see how my abilities at creating assets have improved greatly since the beginning of the year. This year, my confidence at using Maya, Blender, Unreal Engine and Substance 3D Painter has increased and I am more certain about the areas of 3D animation where I do well and the areas where I need to improve on are. I enjoy brainstorming and love the energetic nature that comes with bouncing ideas off each other and coming up with new ones together, and I enjoy using substance painter to create asset textures. Building the environment and creating final shots in Unreal Engine was fascinating. I need to improve my abilities at creating concept art for my models and must make a habit of writing and sketching concepts down on paper. I also need to improve my skills at UVing meshes. Overall, I am happy with the work I have produced as part of a team this semester and I look forward to working with Games Design students next semester.
