In this lesson, we were introduced to the sculpting feature in Blender.

I followed the demo and started out by blocking out a character with basic mesh, consisting of cubes and spheres. From there we were shown the ‘remesh’ option, which essentially retopologizes it, and creates a uniform block to work with.

This part of the module has been my favourite so far, as I came to love working with sculpting.

This was my final result:

I also started to work on my character design, as well as researching Genndy Tartakovsky’s work.

I noticed that the character design in Hotel Transylvania uses soft shapes and curves. Along with exaggerated proportions, it plays into the childish theme of the movie.

Samurai Jack on the other hand, Uses sharp angles and has a minimalistic shapes and proportions.

With this in mind, I began to design a character for my 3D project:

I drafted some designs for a mailman creature who would deliver mail to the residents of the hotel, I played around with different inspirations and creatures. Once I had come to a final design, I made it into a turn around.
