Reflection on Assignment 2
Assignment 2 a hard lesson in discipline. Like when birds throw their babies so they learn to fly, or they die. For assignment 1, I wasn’t taking it all too seriously, but for assignment 2; as soon as I got that final character design drawn I was attached to it and was motivated to redeem myself for being a bum in the first assignment. Moreover, growing more comfortable with sculpting allowed me to get off to a good start for my head, body and features like the sleeves of my characters cloak. It should also be noted that my prop – the staff was a last minute decision in the spirit of time. I originally wanted to do a scythe but I figured it a bit too complicated considering the time I had.
It taught me so much so quickly, my brain is pushing out the sides of my skull because of how much bigger its getting, it’s starting to hurt. I found out that my favourite part of modelling so far is the UV stuff, marking seams is a wonderful feeling. I also got far more comfortable on Substance Painter as I hadn’t given it much time before this assignment.
In the end though, what really got me through the assignment was the help and advice I was able to receive from my lecturers and peers. Big shoutout to Tyler, had absolutely no chance without him. Assignment 2 was truly about the friends we made along the way guys.
