-Research-
before even thinking about the design or planning I experimented with different ideas and researched different styles of temples to see what I took to the most.
initially I liked the idea of going the more ancient temple route with ruins and an alter however as my ideas developed it very much changed into a viking banquet type hall which can be seen below
- I took inspiration from photos such as these
My favourite thing about these and what I took to the most was the shape and structure. I liked the doe shape and the structure created by the beams. I also particularly like the lighting as they provide dramatic shadows therefore adding to the intensity of the environment.
-planning-
above I have inserted my original sketch, after our groups initial discussion of how wed like our groups theme to go and the assets we would need I found myself gravitating more towards the idea of a grand hall and making almost very royal and high class due to the dome and fancy chandelier.
Unfortunately I was forgot to take a screengrab before texturing however this is my model in unreal modelled and ready to be textured with the assets me and my group all created. I am very happy with the end model as i feel i stayed focused on the task at hand and stuck to my original idea. As this was my first time working with unreal editor it did take a bit of trial and error however I am very pleased with the end result as the work has paid off.
Environment Block-out

Here I have created a simple block-out of my model in maya. I have only used simple shapes and a human figure to get an understanding of the shape, scale and layout of my environment. this gave me direction and helped me immensely when going forward in my modelling as it broke down what seemed like such a daunting process so I knew where to start and how to get it to where I wanted it to be.
