3D Group Animation
after our beginning meeting my group all decided on an idea which was an overgrown city appearing to have been left empty for many years previous and then being introduced to each of our robots separately and in the end coming together for a picnic.
My Initial Designs:

here is my initial character design for rusty, I am still pleased with this design however some changes did have to be made. for times sake I had to unfortunately get rid of the cogs for eyes as they would of been very difficult to model and animate. after reflection i also would of just give him wheels as it cause me more hassle than was needed.

here is a very rough storyboard I made for my scene. my idea was to show rusty in the overgrown city floating down a river on a broken piece of wood as if he has got lost and searching for his friends. the animating of the river proved to be very difficult however I am happy I tried something a bit different even if it was difficult.

here is a quick design I created to better visualize the plan I had in my head.

here is rusty modelled and rigged. I enjoyed modelling him and bringing him to life however as I am new to 3d animation the rigging did cause difficulty however the outcome was succcessful.

here is the background I created. it is more simple than I had planned as I was unable to add the building however the model is clear and easy understood as to what rusty is doing and that it is a river he floating down on. however the lighting is something I struggled on and keeping consistent with my other group members work.
Animating:
when it it came to animating I found the river and the motion of rusty flowing down quite a challenge as the body movements are very difficult to grasp.
Here is my section of the animation. ultimately I am pleased with the outcome as it is clear to see what is happening and it flows very well with the story as he drives off waving to his friends. however with more practice I believe it could be improved, for example rusty is quite stiff and I could of possibly animated him a bit more to make it more believable.
