Here are some character designs I have created in my spare time
When doing my animatic Most of my work was completed on my iPad. In an effort to keep a more lighthearted tone to align with the childish naievity of Eden I used sound effects for. Example in this scene;
although very short and simple I do believe it adds quite some humour to the disaster occurring if them realising they are lost and don’t know which direction to take due to the broken sign.
Character animating:
personally character animating and designs are much easier for me however I do believe I gave myself another level of difficulty through the angle of the characters running forward. Although I believe the animation of Eden is okay I am unhappy with bubz as he proved to b extremely difficult.

here I attempt to break down and simplify his design into simpler more defined shapes however his sharper features caused me to struggle much more
jere the 2 characters can be seen running side by side and it is clear bubz is not as good and much more rough.
here is my final animation
overall I am pleased with the outcome of my final animation as I feel it portrays the storyline clearly and has a variety of motion however I do believe I gave myself too much to do in such a limited time which ultimately effected the quality of my artwork which is something I will remember and Improve on in future tasks.
Now being able to begin the animation I decided to break down a character into simple shapes and practising a walk cycle.
here I have chosen Eden as she is the easiest shape;
although simple I found this very difficult as due to the scene being face forward making sure it was clear Eden is running forward maintaining the run cycle Proved to be very difficult
although very simple this animation of the opening door is very difficult due to the angle however I am pleased with the outcome.
another character I did a rough animation of Is the woman giving directions
due to her having no legs and being able to float made the animation process much easier and saved me a lot of time
references:
with the help of the tutorials provided I have created this flour sack animation of it jumping. The tutorial allowed me to consider more the build up and recovery of the jump in order to make it more accurate. I also found the tip to start with the begin middle and end frame as a guide the the movement and direction as I feel it helps with understanding the movement and keeping it smooth.
My Groups Animation
storyboard:
In my group we have in depth discussed the character designs for each character to keep all our sections consistent.
here are some of my group characters they have designed for the world
Eden
bubz
I have also created a character as in my section they turn to someone for directions:

here I have created a demon like woman who floats around this hell type world. The colour scheme is dark and mostly red to indicate fire and danger.
for her character I also used these fire characters as a reference;

Storyboard

here is my rough storyboard of my chosen section. I will be animating bubz and Eden escaping Jenkins after they first realise his first cruel intentions however after exiting the shop they soon realise they don’t know where to go and must request help from a strange demon who turns out to b very helpful and kind much to their surprise.
I believe is stuck to this quite accurately however I had to remove the part where bubz gives her money in return as it was too much for my limited time frame
To begin I started with a simple animation of a ball bouncing up and down to get a grip of the motion and movement needed to do this task.
I believe this is very successful, although Simple the goal is clear and nicely animated.
In this video can be seen balls of different weights and materials being dropped. This has been extremely helpful in capturing the natural movement of each when animating.
to begin I used a rubber bouncing ball.
when studying this movement I discovered how each of the balls slow down once they reach the highest point and are at their fastest immediately after they hit the surface. Due to the rubber bouncing ball being much lighter it bounced a lot more than the rest and is much faster. I do believe my animation is much too slow and would be more accurate if it was faster.
BasketBall
when animating the basketball due to it being heavier and larger I discovered it not only moved significantly slower but it also had wider bounces. However the same applied for this that one it hit its highest point it slowed down and sped up at impact.
Bowling Ball
Lastly I have animated finally animated a bowling ball. The bowling ball is significantly heavier therefor it does not bounce as much as the other or go as far. It most does fast small bounces due to the weight dragging it down.
