During this assignment I found that I really enjoy working in teams and the creative process can be a lot easier with multiple people contributing to the idea generation for a project, however I realise that sometimes its hard to agree on things and keep everybody on the right track. I think my team did a pretty good job at creating a storyline, despite the fact that we were behind most other groups at first with our idea generation.
If i were to start this module again I think I would have more of a think about which group to join as I feel I wasnt in a group with an idea that I was very passionate about and I also think I wouldve liked to have more of an understanding on how to animate characters especially with the human anatomy as I feel that the only exercises we did were about animating bouncing balls or flour sacks which didnt really help me when it came to actually animating a person walking or interacting with things.
I definitely need to do more practice on 2D animating, and using a better software such as Krita would help me with this, however I wasnt able to access a drawing tablet to use on my computer, and drawing with a mouse was too challenging, so I ended up using Procreate which has a very limited animation system so it was difficult to do specific things to make my animation better, for example I wouldnt have been able to add colour as there is no layering system on the Procreate animation feature. I also feel that I could improve on establishing an art style, I find that I couldnt really keep a consistent one especially when I started animating.
I found it difficult to keep my animation long enough especially at 24fps and I think part of this had to do with the fact I was using Procreate and it was a little harder to keep track of that type of thing, as well as the fact that my scene was quite simple and I tried implementing frames into it that made it longer such as close ups or different angles of certain things but in the end it was hard for me to keep it long enough and I also changed it to 12fps as 24 was too fast for mine.
The process leading up to the final animation was quite enjoyable, I really liked designing the vampire character and discussing character traits/designs with my group. I feel that as a team we focused a lot on the colour palettes, designs and environment ideas rather than the actual story and what we would be animating which definitely left us under pressure to decide what our entire animation would be in the end and what scenes we would each be animating but we managed to get a solid idea in the end. I think for future group projects, better time management would be helpful to avoid this happening again.
Overall, I enjoyed working on this project, although I am not happy with the outcome of my work, I learnt a lot and have never done this before so it was very interesting and new to me.
