Summary:

  • Class Task 1 – TEAM RECAP about the process of selecting our world (presented in front of class)
    • Presenting in front of the class was intimidating but also very fun. I was made group speaker and I think I handled it competently and confidently.

Below are the questions and our answers:

POWERPOINT NOTES:

  • We watched a Presentation on Composition and Perspective
    • The Rule of Thirds + The Golden Ratio: Composition guidelines and GEOMETRY are used to:
      • Direct the viewer’s eye
      • Emphasis important aspects of the scene
      • And overall create STRONG COMPOSITION
    • Cinematography – Camera Shots & Angles:
      • Power relations (UP/DOWN SHOTS)
      • Character relationships “what’s the intensity or emotions here” (CLOSE-UP/WIDE-ANGLE SHOTS)
    • Layout – Perspective:
      • Linear (1,2,3-Point) Perspective
      • Warped/Forced Perspective (Used rarely)
      • Aerial Perspective (Used for drawing atmospheres and landscapes)

EXERCISES:

  • EXERCISE 1: Rule of Thirds + Golden Ratio (Draw your world with these principles in mind)

  • EXERCISE 2: Symmetry (Same as Exercise 1)

  • EXERCISE 3: Geometry (Pick 3 Animation Frames from your favourite media and analyse their geometry)

  • EXERCISE 4: Perspective (Drawing in 1 & 2-Point Perspective)

Overall, a really fun and interesting day! 🙂
