Marta Veludo is a Graphic Designer and Illustrator born in Lisbon and based in Amsterdam. She is inspired by pop culture and colour and movement. She works in commercial and cultural fields, using digital, motion, mixed media or three-dimensional mediums. Veludo works alongside agencies while also doing her own freelance work, sharing her work on social media and Behance. She has recently worked with companies such as Adidas, Google and Vice.
Marta’s work makes use of brash colours, abstract patterns and bold typography, which engages her consumers and viewers. Her work is playful and exciting, sticking to her slogan, ‘fun and play is my motto’. Her mixture of colourful abstract and hand-rendered elements create a large collection of design, illustration, motion graphics and instalments.
She draws influence from artists such as David Hockney, Mike Kelly and Ettore Sottsass, while also finding inspiration from internet culture and current world events.
Marta as been a large influence on my work in recent years and I find myself looking to her for inspiration when doing a branding or publication project. Her colour palettes and use of type are carefully selected and considered through each piece she produces, pushing me to do the same.
