• What worked well? & Why?

I really loved the outcomes of some of my composition thumbnails. I have never really created any tonal drawings like this before. They are quick and simple, although they worked great in the design process as I could change it so easy and they’d still look detailed. I was able to create a long and focused backgrounds using this technique.

• What did not work well & Why?

Trying to use a drawing tablet and new software. For my final animation I am continuing to use Procreate on my iPad instead of using Krita with a tablet. I feel more comfortable using procreate and due to the small time gap I have to complete the animation I didn’t want to risk using a new software. During my free time away from university work, I plan on teaching myself to use the tablet more comfortably.

• What did I learn about creative team work?

I learnt that everyone works in different ways and it can actually be a good thing because I’m able to see how people do things different and learn from others. Throughout this assignment I have became more ill than I would like to be and all I can say is that my team were excellent at understanding and being patient with me. If I had missed a lesson I would always catch up with them to see any new changes and they were always more than happy to help.

• If I were to start the module again what would I do differently and why?

I firstly would go back and organise my work as I had been prioritising certain parts of work more than others and wasting valuable time. I would also go back and really open up when it comes to creating scenery and character ideas as I feel like I could’ve came up with much better If I had more references and more trial and errors. Sometimes I focus on the perfect outcome instead of testing other things out. I would say I’m not that confident when it comes to character design, but after this assignment I feel like my skills have really improved.

• What do I need to do more/less of to improve my animation practice?

I need to explore more into the 12 principles of animation and learn more in depth of every technique to create better quality animations. I feel like I have covered most of the principles in animation, but there is still a lot more of improvement that could be done within my animation practise.

• What might I change? How?

This assignment has been quite stressful because of the lack of time management and planning. For my upcoming modules I will prioritise how I organise my work and hopefully this keeps me on track and I can achieve more out of the time I have.

• What should I keep? Why?

I think I should keep my current drawing style/methods as I think these are what works best for me although they can still be improved by adding techniques and using more references.
