This week we focused on finalising the lighting within our scenes. We were given a  blender file to experiment with lighting to create shadows and reflections.

For our Environment, Nicolle and I worked on creating emissive screens for the arcade machines. We added the images as textures then added emission to them so they would look a little more realistic. Nicolle drew up the sonic ‘High Score’ which includes the group members names (hidden easter egg) – we actually played multiple games to get a realistic score, I was one of the highest until we played Pac-Man…

The lights had already been added by Nicolle and myself although I added models of spotlights for the ceiling and arcade machines and slightly adjusted the lighting within the room. I made sure every item had a contact shadow to make it seen more realistic. We were aiming for a dark kind of room with bright neon lights to give a glow in the dark/ arcade appearance. I also added some strip and down lights to the claw machine.

These last 2 images are finalised Environments for the Animation once the lighting was applied.

Looking back at the reference images of arcades, I think our group did a pretty good job at re creating a retro/1980s style of arcade along with the lighting. The neon signs really help to highlight certain areas of the room.
