Week 4 – Colour

CLASS EXERCISES:

This week was a more of a creative week, in comparison to last week. This week, our lecturer introduced us to the concept of color theory, and how it is adapted into a scene to express emotion.

We were given the task of creating two color palettes to portray different feelings, and using a template our lecturer gave us, deliver these palettes to portray the emotion in the scene.

I forgot to take a screenshot of the palettes on the adobe website, which I know for the future, but I wanted to portray two completely opposite emotions. In the first I added a nostalgic, cozy feeling whereas in the second I created a dark and gloomy scene.

We were swapped around again this week, but this time new people came to our group, so it was really nice to see some new faces as I knew they could bring a good perspective to our group. I found that we were starting to struggle to come up with ideas, but having new people helped that.

Overall we were all on the same page about what the story was, but everyone still had different ideas, which at fist was tricky but then we found a way to piece them all together, and so the different ideas actually became an advantage.

Next, we were given a group task of creating around 5 palettes which we would use to portray the atmosphere of our world:

Me and my group used adobe to create these, and so we tried all the different types of palettes. Overall we used Analogous, Triadic and Monochromatic.

Reworking a drawing:

I used the blue monochromatic palette to rework this sketch.
