For Week 2, we began getting into the more complicated aspects of Blender. We were taught a variety of things, such as making our models more performance friendly by removing polygons from our models, the differing typing of modelling such as hard surface modelling and soft surface modelling, bevelling, extruding and more. We learned new terms such as topology, which means how precisely your polygons are placed in your model. We were encouraged to give our hand at modelling a skateboard and a push cart.

Push Cart

I found the push cart to be quite fun and I enjoyed bevelling and seeing how rounded it made my object. I struggled a little with the handle but was able to get my head around it. I found both to be quite straight forward and I enjoyed doing them.

Skateboard

I found the skateboard to be fairly straight forward as well, but I struggled with the bevelling feature and had to restart the deck. If I could restart, I would definitely give the deck more of a curvature as I feel as if it is a little bit too flat. However, I am satisfied with the wheels and their holders under the deck.

Tie Interceptor

For our homework task, we were tasked with making a Tie Interceptor from Star Wars. I found this to be a tricky process, and struggled with the mirror function but was able to promptly figure it out. I overall enjoyed this exercise a lot and I am definitely far more comfortable with shortcuts in Blender. It took me a little while to get used to the Inset Faces feature but I was able to figure it out after struggling with the individual faces on the wings.
