At first I drew on the blobs I could break apart into characteristics easier but then turned the tablet around to see what other angles I could try. In the next activity, I had to switch my approach as all the components were already present. I first drew the silhouettes as the individual shapes to follow as a reference, from that I was able to adapt the images into them, exaggerating the proportions for a more stylized finish.  

 

Two students took the lead in designing each witch so that we would have as much time as possible to build their world before we started the final animation. I lead on Crone.  We then discussed the aspects of each character, adding more information based on their personality and profession to the board. From this chat we sketched a few details of what we had imagined them as, later I progressed from these to proper studies to find a final look for Crone.

I used the steps we had learned, from basic shape design to proportions, playing around with all the possibilities for her appearance. Settling for the idea beneath i finished two turn-around drawings, changing from work to day-to-day clothes as well as an expression sheet. Since we were working in pairs our visions for the character ended up differing slightly, therefore we agreed to use my version for the work outfit and James’ day-to-day as well as talon-like hands for her final look. 

To expand a little more on the wildlife area of worldbuilding, I designed a creature that would be a hybrid of rat and mole as a conflict creator in Crone’s territory.
