Morning Class

In the morning class we were tasked with another rendering task, we were also put into our breakout groups to discuss what we had done for the 30 second animation. Alec looked over my model of the kitchen and said to separate the UV‘s onto different UV maps. He said to group the small accessories into suck as the shelf and the tap onto one map and put the fridge onto a separate map as it will give me more resolution to work with. The walls will also be on a separate map. I also should bevel the edge of the fridge as it would look better.

After the talk with Alec, I got started on the video tutorials. To start I referenced in the happy jump animation into the scene. I then turned off the NURBS Curves, select the eyebrow and make it a layer and turned it off as well.

Click the Arnold menu, Lights, Skydome LightSelect the Skydome, in the attribute editor click the colour option, navigate to the Substance Painter file on the computer hard drive, select a background. Add a polygon plane to act as the ground, change the subdivisions to 50. Do a test render by clicking Arnold, Render.

Select the Skydone, click the attribute editor and turn the camera option down to 0, this keeps the light information and turns off the background.

Select the polygon plan, click Deform, Nonlinear, bend. Adjust the bent till it covers the background.

Open the render settings, change the renderable camera to the ‘HappyJump_Monty_Animation:Camera 1′. Change the Presents to HD 720. Select the Skydome, go into the attribute editor, change the sample to 3.

Click the render settings, click AOVs, select  crypot_material and RGBAIn the rendering settings under Frame/Animation ext: select name.#.ext, change the end frame to 31 and the image format to exr. Select merge AOVs.

Overall, I don’t really like rendering, there are a lot of settings and options to choose from and I find it a little overwhelming. I do find the tutorials helpful in explaining how to render and I will continue to learn as I go.

Afternoon Class

In the afternoon class we were put into our break put groups and worked on our 30 second animation task. I worked on adding a bevel to the fridge and fixing the UV’s and getting the scene ready for texturing.
