I would say that for my first assignment, I very much enjoyed it. It was quite overwhelming at first with how confusing 3D modeling can be, but I am glad with where I am with my knowledge on how to use Blender, and 3D substance. I think I would struggled greatly without the tutorial videos, so I’m very grateful for them being accessible from anywhere. As for the main thing I think I struggled with, it was definitely UV mapping and seam marking. I still don’t 100% understand how it works, as that was obviously shown through my first failed attempt at making my own mask for Week 5’s homework task. But i am confident that I will overcome that learning barrier and become much more productive at UV mapping other blender models in the future.
While week 4 and 5’s homework tasks were definitely the most challenging tasks of this assignment, I think they were very beneficial as it allowed me to freely think and interpret how to model something in Blender while only relying on my own thinking, rather than depending on a tutorial. It was also very satisfying and rewarding to be creating my own models from scratch all on my own.
