The last few weeks of working on this assignment has been quite rough for me, as I found it hard to keep up, as well as having to revisit some tutorials in order to refresh my memory on how to do certain things on Blender. I would say that the start of this assignment was quite strong for me, as I had quickly figured out what I wanted my model to look like. The whole introduction of sculpting had been quite a learning curve for me, but over time I got used to how it works. Unfortunately this was hindered by my general skills at blender, which I can admit to say that they are not great. I feel that this got in the way of the overall enjoyment of this assignment as I usually found myself stuck a lot and feeling quite under pressure.
As for things I need to work on in the future, a better understanding of how to use substance painter better, UV mapping, baking and applying textures. I feel that my model wasn’t very strong because of these things that I wish to work and develop more skills with. Regarding the design process, I enjoyed it quite a bit as I was able to express more of my skills through my 2D artwork designs of my model. Something that I feel like I improved on this assignment was my understanding of modifiers, and when to apply them.
I was disappointed with myself for not being able to figure out the problem with posing my model — as I had tried countless times to try and fix. My model is nowhere near perfect, but I was glad to be able to learn how to sculpt human body parts on Blender. I’ll definitely be messing around with it in the future on my own time.
