This week’s class, we were looking texturing and how to UV map models within Blender. At first, it was quite overwhelming for me as there was a lot to take in. But I was able to get a grip on the topic after watching the tutorials. One thing that greatly confused me was the seam markings — I still don’t have a perfect understanding on how they are used, but I was able to put them to use thanks to the class exercise.

Our class exercise involved us texturing a dice, a coke can and a hammer. Following the tutorial helped me understand the process of UV texturing, and why seam marking is important.

Homework task — Sword

Our homework task was to model our very own sword from scratch, and texture it using Photoshop. It was a bit overwhelming, as this was our first piece of work that we would be making from scratch all by ourselves. I used a reference to create my sword, that being the Dark moon great sword from Elden ring. It’s shape was a little too basic, so I added some details of my own.
