Trying to sculpt an Apple and Pear.
This was our first introduction to sculpting that Henry gave us. We were to try sculpting these fruit ourselves to get a bit more familiar with Blender and it’s tools, I had a lot of fun trying to replicate the imperfections and asymmetry of the apple and pear. Because of how simple the shapes were and Henry’s tutorials, I found it easy enough to follow and be pleased with the result.
During the first week we were shown the importance of blocking out our sculpts.
Retopologfy is something I was already a little bit familiar with. I knew the basics and what to avoid, but trickier areas like an open mouth threw me off a little bit. Henry’s tip of collecting UV references was really useful in the future.
Henry also showed us later where to cut seams in a retolopolgised head so that the textures would fit nicely. Baking high poly meshes onto low to show detail but keep poly count minimal.
We gave a try from here on with adding more detail, posing, texturing and uploading the Elephant head to sketchfab. This was really fun to try and put some character into the sculpt bu posing with the pose tool, it worked quite well on the trunk I felt. Texturing him was fun as well, I did two different looks.
I tried to give him more of a Disney Dumbo look but…. the eyes didn’t help. The cheeks are cute though.
