It took me a while to get into my animatic, I was a bit scared about the transition scene but after some advice from staff I felt much better about my approach.
The main inspirations are from American werewolf and Van Helsing, both feature werewolf transitions but in very different ways. As long as I can capture strong silhouettes to use for the shadows, while keeping in tone with these movies I will hopefully get the same uneasy effect.
First few tries with animatic:
This was my first attempt to create one, I was unsure with some timing but I think my current version is something closer to ideal.
I encountered some issues with premier pro at the time, I tried fixing some of the images to be center but they refused to do so.
So I moved on to procreate, as I am more familliar with it and I could easily adjust if needed.
Version 2:
For version 2’s feedback, it was noted as unclear during the final parts. The spell being cast to the smoke, it wasn’t clear what was happening and animating smoke to look decent is difficult enough. So I went back, looked at some references from movies, tv shows, video games etc. Harry Potter was a big help in grand halls and spell casting, as well as Baldur’s Gate 3.
Version 3:
All the changes are made with suggestions of the group and then some feedback from tutors. For the final animatic, Alec and Aodhan gave me some advice to make the scenes clearer when they follow through. I added in a staff in one of the close up shots, like they suggested.
