Using Alec’s tutorials as well as Aaron Blaise’s videos and more referencing from Richard William’s Animator’s Survival Kit, I felt excited to give my first flour sack animation a try. I was torn on what action to animate and I know the jumping action is popular and a useful one to practice. Although I saw a page in The Animator’s Survival Kit and I wanted to try something similar. It shows a character making a fast impact onto a hard surface and I wanted to try to replicate the kind of movement in my own way.
My first go though of the flour sack animation, I was really pleased with the result but I felt the anticipation and the in air action didnt hold long enough so I went back and tweaked it until I felt it looked more fluid.
Second Attempt
The next day I tried something that felt a little more complicated. I’m still happy with how it looks but not as pleased as my first flour sack animation. I found some of the actions difficult to include but I tried to include some squash and pull into the sack flour form.

Another day after the last video I wanted to try a jump and land with some magical effects as I’m part of the Magical Academia (dark fungus) animation group and I thought some rough practice would be good. I think it went well although my landing is still a bit rough.
