This week while working form home I tried out a storyboard exercise Alec had made for the class. This storyboard had descriptions already and ti was our task to draw them relating to those descriptions. I messed a couple of the frame types up, but the story and mood still came across ok.
I really liked this exercise and it did give me some idea how to approach my own next time. I feel like sometimes I go too specific and detailed when a lot of times I encouner that keeping the description or visual simple can be the best ay to keep it clear. I’ll take this into consideration next time for sure, but it is definately something I’m working on.
We then had some practice with Straight Ahead animation. This is a type of method that involves drawing one frame after another without much planning on how it will develop. With this type of animation the actions can be more fluid and fun, but can devolve quickly without any kind of structure. I did enjoy this task, and made a puddle turn into a sad ghost. It made me realise how much of a benefit planning your actions can be when animating, especially when the moment is right for each method.
