In this morning’s class we were introduced to “3D Previs”, basically a 3D version of an animatic that can have different stages of detail, till the final animation. Kaz and I were feeling overwhelmed/busy so Manny and Lel completed the Previs themselves throughout this week.
During this afternoon we all presented our ideas to the whole class and got feedback on how to improve our final plots for the shorts. Our groups feedback was that the meaning and story were confusing and need to be redone as the conclusion of the flower chewing up the bee and spitting it out didn’t make much sense. Also, the caterpillar’s original intent was to show how protective the main bee is of the flower, but in the end the lecturers advised that he was not really needed and so we decided to cut him out of our short. This made me a little upset as I really like the concept and design of him, but I understood that it would make for a better short without him.
At this point, Chika had stopped contacting us and we couldn’t seem to get any responses from them. I approached Alec about this, and he said to carry on with our own parts for now and see if they come back in a few weeks.
With our feedback, Lel quickly created a 2D animatic with the corrections we needed to make a better animation. With Alec’s approval on the idea, we then reassigned characters/assets.
