Major Project – Post 12 – Animation Progress

I have been working on my high priority shots first to give time to work on them the most. These shots include all the emotional scenes. I want my animation to be as expressive as possible. I think subtle changes in the facial features go a long way and make the character more believable. However, this has been a very time consuming and lengthy progress. I am finding that I am quite a slow animator. Prior to this course, I did not really have any animation skills – I joined wanting to learn and get good at not just drawing but also making the drawings jump to life. I have struggled on and off to keep up at points and have a hard time self-management so I have not practice 2D animation as much as would have liked. So, I am learning a lot of my skills now by myself as I animate, its both rewarding and tiring.

For these shots I am inspired by Studio Ghibli, they animate the characters hair flowing up. It is a detailed I have always really loved and feels good to try it out. I also regret not using the keyframe feature more as it saves so much time moving your work. I have just been manually moving each frame by frame.

I feel as though I am not working fast enough so I need to focus on moving forward.
