Week 8 – Blocking and Sculpting the character

This week we went over how to block and start sculpturing our models. We were supposed to have our concepts done by today but I’m running behind a bit. Today’s class was really helpful though and once I’m ready to start sculpting, I think I’ll block out the spacing/scale of my model so that its true to my concept sketches.

Whilst thinking of Ideas on how I want my character to look I found these really cute illustrations explaining the origins and facts about this performance. I’ll be basing my creature off of the Southern Hok San lion, which has a more relaxed and playful movements. I’ll also be sure to include the horn and red ribbon/mirror that wards off evil. I have nice memories of the lions eating lettuce and then throwing it to the audience so I’d like to incorporate it into my  character.
