Week 8- Idea Generation
Todays lecture was all about how to create ideas for our pitch product that we have to present at the end of term 1. Daniel discussed different methods on how to generate ideas quickly and efficiently. We had the chance at the end of class to team up and try out a few for ourselves to help us get in the head space for our pitch project.
My notes-
Worst way
I have heard a lot fo the techniques above before but the ‘worst way’ technique is something that I have never heard of before! I think that this idea is genius what you think about it I just never have! so basically you just come up with the worst idea possible to solve your design problem and invert your results. Daniel explained that this has many benefits despite sounding a bit crazy, by doing this task it can relive anxiety and stress around the fact your idea might not be good enough. I am definitely going to try this out in future project!
Group class task
We tried the ‘Connections’ idea generation option – where we chose 4 random words and had to think of an idea. We did this twice and I included images of our results below.

Reflection
I want to do my own research as the ideas we came up with as a group- nothing striked me, I think the ideas me and the girls came up with were unique but there was nothing that I felt inspired by. So I want to try out some of the above techwnieuwes to brainstorm some of my own ideas and concepts for a pitch product. However I enjoyed the group work and I have never used the ‘connections’ technique which actually provided us with some really unique and interesting outcomes as we had to be specific to the words we chose at random. This is something I will do again in the future as I think the outcomes were successful. I know this technique is limiting as you have to stick to the words you get but this allowed us to really focus on some key points and ideas.
