More Competitor Analysis
From looking at Space X’s website previously I decided to use Google Earth as more inspiration and use this website within my research. I wanted to do a user test on one of my competitor analysis choices and I feel Google Earth was the perfect choice for this exercise.
Google Earth
From researching Google Earth and exploring its page I got a lot of inspiration. I fell in love with the animation style and the imagery and photography used here. The usability was easy and seamless and I found this site really easy to use. What I liked about this site was the simplicity it wasn’t bombarded with information and it was very self explanatory. I found using the website very calming and relaxing- making my overall user experience seamless and un-interrupted.
I also really appreciated their choice of fonts on this website its really clean and pairs so nicely with the whole aesthetic. A truly stunning piece of design and the opening screen gets you enthralled as soon as it opens.
User testing
I decided to do a user test on this website when I have a screen recording off below. To do this I set up quick time and recorded myself opening this website and using Google maps. When completing this user test I found the site very easy to use and the minimal design work was beautifully executed and they really captured the ‘in space’ feel. As soon as the app opened I knew exactly what to do so I did find it really easy and I didn’t need any instructions or anything.

I really enjoyed looking at Google earth- the vibe and aesthetic is something similar to what I want to give off on my own element project and I think that the design that Google as used above is so cool. It actually does really feel like you’re in space when you use this application.
What is next?
So how do I move forward from this? I will take this design inspiration and put my own twist on it. I will continue to develop my ideas digitally on Figma and I will experiment with animation and Google maps does this so well I think it looks so cool.
