Final visual marque process
After deciding that I want the infinity shape I went back to Illustrator to explore and experiment with this shape and what kind of look I wanted my final version to have. It is important to me that I made something that was appropriate for my brands image and one that complimented my monogram and wordmark.
Illustrator process
I have included screenshots of how I achieved this particular shape that I had used for my original monogram design on illustrator below. This thickness and size creates a perfect shape and loop, it isn’t to heavy but it is still confident and bold, however I want to take this shape further and explore a wider range of possible outcomes.
Experimenting with the shape
On illustrator I used a range of different effects to play around with the style of my original shape. Some of the added effects I explored included:
- warp- bulge
- distort
- stroke exploration
Symmetrical
The shapes below here I have kept symmetrical, whatever has happened on the left side has happened on the right. I have squashed some of the right down and in others I have increased the weight. I like how some of these turned out, however I think a couple of them have turned into what look like super hero masks.
Warped
The marques below have all been ‘warped’ in some way or the other, I wanted to play around with this concept to see if this could add a fun aspect to my brand. However after seeing the outcomes this is not the right approach to take for my marque, this concept doesn’t fit my brands personality and image.
This was a fun experiment and I think that some of the shapes that I have produced are very interesting. This was a helpful and beneficial experiment for me as I got to see some of the possibilities that this shape could give me. However I have decided that I am going to stick with my original idea and structure as I think that this will fit my brand and is the most appreciate choice.
Final choice
Looking at weights
After decided on my final style of marque it is essential that I achieve the appropriate scale and thickness of this shape, I need to get the right balance for my brand. I thought that experimenting with different weights of this shape would be beneficial and I have included my process below.
Sketching
I began with some paper sketches to see how my marque would look if I added in more weight or less weight.
Digital
I then began to experiment digitally increasing the stroke size. I landed on the perfect size and I have circled it below. The top left is too thin and the below options are too strong and over powering, I want my marque to be confident but I don’t want it to appear too intense.
Animation possibility
This visual marque gives me room to explore animation further, perhaps I could experiment with the motion of the loops. A possible idea could be that I could animate a loop in the shape of my visual marque around my monogram, this would draw attention and enhance my monogram. I will experiment with animation further in the near future.
Final marque with first look at colour
I haven’t yet decided what colour I want for my brand yet and it isn’t necessary to include this in colour at this particular moment in time but I have read that orange symbolises creativity so I decided to experiment with this colour with my visual marque to see what that could look like.
Light orange
Darker Orange
This colour exploration shows me that this marque works in colour too and the shape isn’t lost. I actually really liked working with orange here, I think this colour could be a possible contender for my brand. I will look deeper into colour exploration in the coming weeks and I am very excited to choose my brands colour scheme.
Final decision combined with my other elements
I have included a collection of all fo my three elements below, I think that they work in perfect harmony with each other, as we aren’t working with colour yet I have included these in black and white.
Reflection
I am very happy with my final outcomes for all 3 elements, my monogram, wordmark and visual marque. I think that they are all consistent and they all give off the same energy and personality. Each element is strong and confident and I am excited to use these element sin the coming weeks in different ways and expand my personal brand even further.
