Visual Marque Development
Sketching
I have previously looked at visual marque research and have done some quick sketches on some ideas for the creation of my visual marque, I have explored ideas with objects of things that I am interested in e.g. painting or things that inspire me etc. I have decided to do some more sketches on my favourite ideas and develop them and I have experimented with them further in my sketchbook, see below.
Looking at the decorative pattern
this pattern is the pattern inside my monogram and I sketched out some possible pattern ideas for a visual marque. I have rotated the shapes and explored scale also.
Digital Progression
I liked 3 ideas the best out of all of my sketches and I have taken my sketches and the ideas I have came up with to Illustrator and began developing them digitally.
Lightbulb
I began with the lightbulb idea as this was one of my favourite sketches. I think that this idea did have potential on the sketch book however when I see this digitally I don’t think that has the right vibe that I wanted it to give off. when I spoke to Daniel he said that it was a clear idea to use my monogram as the filament however as my monogram is broken into two pieces it is appearing that the filament is broken and that isn’t a good representation to put out there. Now I am aware of this I completely agree and this makes sense. The bottom row idea has the most potential here.
Shape within the infinity
I then progressed onto the shape that exists inside the infinity symbol I created, I am not sure about this for a visual marque but I think this could also make a nice fifth element for my brand in the near future.
Infinity shape
This visual links the most with my monogram as it is the initial shape that I used to create it and it makes sense to use this as my marque and I think that out of all of my sketches and some digital exploration this is the strongest outcome. It represents everything I want my brand to be, it is strong and bold like my monogram and I think that this option makes the most sense. Maybe I can alter this original shape in a creative way?
Final decisions- Infinity loop
As I have now chosen what path I want to go down for my marque I have decided to go back to the sketch book to sketch more iterations of possible marque outcomes based one the loop concept.
Iteration Sketching- 2 minute challenge
I have decided to do some very quick sketches for my visual marque based on the loop idea, I challenged myself to make as many iterations as I could in around 2 minutes to inspire more ideas and possible outcomes.
Moving forward I want to explore more with this initial shape digitally and make sure I chose the right style of infinity shape for my brand.
Reflection
I have explored my favourite ideas and I enjoyed the journey with this visual marque. I want to get some feedback on my visual marque and see which of the elements best tie in with my overall brand identity and if Daniel agrees with my opinions, personally I feel like the infinity symbol fits well and I think I can also include this element in my brand in a creative way.
