Endless Possibilities
I have decided on taking the infinity approach for the design of my personal brand and specifically my monogram and I have done some research on this approach and the idea surrounding the infinity loop and what it represents below.
What is the definition of infinity?
- Unlimited extent of time, space, or quantity : boundlessness.
Where did the infinity originate from?
The idea of an infinity loop is not a new one, this symbol has been around for a while and it was used to represent different ideas and believes through the ages. In 1655 John Wallis, who was an English mathematician discovered this symbol and created a concept that refers to a quantity and no bound or end, in algebraic geometry the figure is called a lemniscate.
What does it represent?
The infinity symbol has many deep and spiritual meanings behind it and it holds a significant meaning within faith and religious beliefs. From research I have discovered that within meditation, the symbol of infinity is used to remind us of balance, focus, harmony, peace, and oneness; and it also represents a sense of simplicity and balance.
The symbol is also used in expressions of never ending love, suggesting it is eternal and everlasting or even an empowerment for an individual to suggest a strong and unbreakable bond.
Why have I chosen to take this approach and use this as inspiration?
A big part of why I chose this particular approach for my brand was because it represents for me, the endless possibilities for designs and ideas. This is important to me because I want my brand to radiate everlasting ideas and endless outcomes and possibilities for all things design and the challenges I may come up against as a designer. For me this approach represents creativity as I have taken the infinity and put my own spin on it and it also reflects loyalty and a strong trustworthy component.
I think the idea of endless possibilities and the design process that my brand now represents is an interesting idea and approach and suits me as a designer and artist and the original brand values I wanted at week 1. I love the idea of being limitless when it comes to my designs and the illustrations I will create and I know I can take this idea further into defining myself as a designer and a brand.
Shape and Form inspiration
There are many different forms and shapes that an infinity loop can take, I have added some images of a range of different variations and designs below and persoanally for my brand I want it to be strong and bold.
From researching a range of different sizes, shapes and proportions I prefer the geometric bold style and I think with some adjusting I can reinvent this into my own style and add my own spin on it.
