Monogram process
In the beginning I researched a lot of monograms and looked at artists and designers who use bold shapes and letters to create their monograms.
I had a lot of options and 2 main concepts that I liked but I had to get decisive and I realise that the infinity logo had the most values that I wanted my own brand to portray and I feel like that concept mirrors me as a person and designer. So moving forward I needed to get the right design and weight of the infinity logo to suit my brands identity, I have written a blog post surrounding the idea of infinity here.

How did I create my final monogram digitally?
I have included screenshots of how I created my final monogram design, I used Illustrator to create my monogram. I started out with this infinity and I have included images of how I created this shape below. I just used simple semi circles and I then used the pen tool to join them together, I then curved the edges and I was left with the lovely loop.
I then added anchor points to this shape using pen tool and began erasing sections of the loop, I decided to erase 3 different sections within the loop. I did this because I wanted to ensure that the ‘C’ and the ‘G’ are clearly visible.
I then used the shape tool to add a simple rectangle to the G to finish the monogram.
Daniels critique
I decided to decrease the weight of my monogram as I thought it would look more modern and sleek and I presented the group with the monogram below and Daniel suggested that I increase the weight of the lines and keep the original monogram weight and even thickness it up more, this will benefit me when it comes to visibility and production.

Why I chose this particular structure and design?
I went for this type of infinity approach as it was easily readable, some of my previous approaches were too over complicated, especially when it came to the design of the G, I feel like this approach was the most effective route. This structure easily highlights my initials and the infinity sign is still evident and clear to the audience, it is also bold and confident.

Final Reflection
After I made the changes I can see now how much more confident I come across to my audience, the thicker lines are more visible and if I shrunk each design down to a small size and the thicker version is much more visible. My initial hopes for this design is that it would be clean, confident, modern and also creative. It was important to me that this new design highlighted my desire to show the world that as a designer there are endless possibilities with the work that I will create and design and I think my new and improved monogram radiates all of those things.
