Week 1- Language

Within the first lecture on the new semester Daniel talked through the idea of a personal brand, he talked about how words shape experiences and the important questions we need to ask ourselves in order to build our personal brand. I was informed that strong brands have simple, efficient language and good ideals and to build my own brand I need to figure out who I am and who I hope to be.

I got the impression that creating your own personal brand isn’t easy as it is all about questions and asking yourself these questions, to figure out who you are, what you want your brand to portray and communicate to the world? What’s my vision? Where do I see myself in 5 or 10 years? These questions are all good, important and valid questions but I’m not sure of the answers yet.

Understanding myself

To begin my personal brand journey I asked myself just a few of those important questions Daniel talked about in order to begin the process of understanding myself and my brand. I took to my sketchbook to write out some words I think about myself and words that I hope my brand will one day be assosiated with.

Reflection on this task

I found it hard at first finding words to describe myself as this is something I haven’t really had to do before. I have only began this journey of self discovery, but I am excited to continue this path and build my brand and to be able to answer these important questions with confidence and get clear about where I want to go and what I want my brand to be. This task was a good start and I will revisit these types of questions multiple times to ensure I get the best word bank and brand dictionary that suits my work and brand.
