Group Critique
This class was the group critique and I showed my posters to my lecturers and my peers, I created multiple posters and Pauline liked the look of the poster below and wanted to see me develop this one further. She made a few suggestions that I took on board and I experimented with a few ideas. this isn’t my final poster but I still wanted to develop it further to see how far I could push the project.
Original (before changes)
After changes
I happen to prefer this new version of it, i removed the text and added the date the typeface Helvetica was made.
Final Poster Critique
I then presented the poster that I want to be my final one (below) Kyle and Pauline gave me some feedback and critiqued my work.
My thoughts on my chosen final poster:
- I like its simplicity and my chosen colour palette.
- I feel like I have captured the type face of Helvetica with this simple, clean cut poster.
- I am not sure about my text placement, I feel as though I could have placed them in a different position on the poster.
Kyle and Pauline critiques:
- align the quote with the ‘e’.
- rethink the paragraph on the right, might look better without it.
- change the authors name on the quote, make it smaller with different typographical emphasis.
Updated final poster
Reflection
I agree with the points Pauline and Kyle made and the changes they suggested, and I believe that it has bettered my work and the changes I made transforms the finished poster. The changes I made were:
- I took out the paragraph on the left hand side.
- I aligned the quote to the ‘e’.
- I made the authors name a light emphasis.
- I fixed the punctuation (quotation marks).
- I fixed up some letters that weren’t in the perfect position.
I think that even though the critiques were small, they made a big difference to the outcome. This critique session was beneficial and it benefitted me to see my peers work and hear the comments and critiques my lecturers made about their posters, for my first group critique I think it was successful. Overall I am happy with the end results.
